2022 1st Quarter report
Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Romans 5:3-5 NIV
Praise the Lord! After months in the States caring for her ailing father, Wendy is finally back on the mission field with us in Thailand. In addition to being a loving mother and caring for our Akha and American daughters, Wendy continues her mission work in educating the 2nd generation of local missionaries at Chiang Rai International Christian School.
1st quarter of 2022 proved to be a test of our perseverance. The arrival of Omicron swept through Thailand like a hurricane, landing record high numbers of infections compared to all other waves during the Covid19 pandemic. Omicron infected many of our family members and supported students in northern Thailand during the past few months. Thankfully, no one had serious symptoms and all endured SARS Covid2 by the grace of our Lord. We have hope of a brighter 2022 because the Lord had poured His love into our lives.
Despite classes going in and out of session during the Omicron wave, many of our young people still managed to complete their education and successfully graduate from prospective programs. We are blessed to have 4 elementary school, 4 middle school, 1 high school, and 3 tech college graduates this year. All 3 of our Bible College students have endured Covid 19 infection this year. Ministry training is challenging to begin with; the pandemic has made it even more difficult for our students. Despite the challenges, their hearts are filled with thanksgiving for the opportunity to answer God’s special calling. And for the support from our loving donors that made their trainings possible.
Our youngest daughter Paulina will be graduating from high school this May. In the 5 years since she stepped foot onto Thailand as a missionary kid, Paulina had grown in stature, mind, and spirit by the grace of God. She loves people, sports, and her family. But most of all, she loves to walk the path God had called her to be on. Paulina will take a gap year before a attending college. During this time, she will be serving more hill tribe children in northern Thailand; while volunteering at Chiang Rai International Christian School to serve the 2nd generation of local missionaries.
Our partner church Jireh Church of Chiang Rai is nearing the end of construction of their new student dormitory/ worship center. Praise the Lord for watching over the entire construction process with no mishaps and accidents. The completed building will be able to house 16 college students and 2 fulltime student counselors. Plus, new meeting rooms and activity deck, Jireh church’s new building will provide more tools for us to disciple young hilltribe students. We are still short 30,000 USD for the total cost of construction. Please pray and help us complete the building construction at the end of May.
